Thai Basil Beef Rolls

Ingredients

  1. 400 g ground beef
  2. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  3. 3 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 1 red chili, finely chopped
  5. 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  6. 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  7. 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  8. 1 teaspoon sugar
  9. 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  10. 12 rice paper wrappers
  11. 1 carrot, julienned
  12. 1 cucumber, julienned
  13. 1/2 cup lettuce leaves
  14. Fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add garlic and chili, sautéing until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Mix well.
  5. Add Thai basil leaves and cook briefly until wilted. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. Dip one rice paper wrapper in warm water until soft, then place on a clean surface.
  7. Layer lettuce, carrot, cucumber, and a portion of the beef mixture in the center.
  8. Fold in the sides and roll tightly into a neat roll.
  9. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  10. Serve fresh with your favorite dipping sauce such as sweet chili or peanut sauce.
