Sticky Sweet-Savory Caramelized Honey Garlic Pork with Golden Glaze and Tender Juicy Bites

Ingredients

  1. 700 g pork shoulder or pork belly, cut into bite-sized pieces
  2. 3 tablespoons honey
  3. 4 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  5. 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  6. 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  7. 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  8. 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  9. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  10. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  11. 2 tablespoons water
  12. 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  13. 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  14. Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the pork pieces and cook for 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and slightly crispy.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, sesame oil, and black pepper.
  5. Pour the sauce into the skillet with the pork and stir well to coat evenly.
  6. Let the mixture simmer for 5–7 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and caramelize around the pork.
  7. In a separate small bowl, mix water and cornstarch to create a slurry. Add it to the skillet and stir continuously for 1–2 minutes until the glaze becomes thick, sticky, and glossy.
  8. Remove from heat and sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
  9. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles for a satisfying, flavour-packed meal.
