Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 3 green onions, sliced (plus extra for garnish)
- Steamed rice for serving
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions
- Toss the sliced beef with cornstarch until evenly coated. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef in batches and sear for 2-3 minutes until crispy on the edges. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add soy sauce, brown sugar, water, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- Let the sauce cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return the beef to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Add green onions and cook for another 1-2 minutes until everything is glossy and well combined.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and extra green onions. Serve hot over steamed rice.
